Desert Sound Colony is the project of DJ, producer and Holding Hands label founder Liam Wachs. His dance-floor-focused sound brings together house, garage, breakbeat, techno and electro. He has performed at Panorama Bar, Love International, fabric and Dimensions, with tracks including Aunt Wendy’s Wedding In Wales, Fast Life and Taking It Out For A Rip.
Holding Hands brings together artists including Breaka, Adam Pits, Baby Rollen and Guava, alongside collective label showcases. Wachs has released on Nick Höppner's Touch From A Distance, Futureboogie Recordings, Snap Crackle & Pop and Me Me Me. EPs were also planned for Moxie's On Loop and South London's Scenic Route. His music has received support from Midland, Raresh, Lena Willikens and Andrew Weatherall.
The project began in 2014 with melancholic house releases on Francis Harris's Scissor And Thread, informed by 1960s psychedelia and the British countryside. Initially writing and touring as a three-piece band, Desert Sound Colony later returned to club-oriented music.
