Autechre

Rob Brown and Sean Booth formed Autechre in 1987 in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Both drew on electro and hip-hop before making their own electronic recordings. Their music appeared on Warp’s Artificial Intelligence compilation in 1992, followed by the debut album Incunabula in 1993. All of the duo’s subsequent albums have been released through Warp.

Early recordings used melodic techno structures; later work introduced increasingly complex programming and more abstract composition. Their music is frequently classified as IDM, a term Booth has publicly rejected. The digital catalogue also includes alternative album versions and recordings of live performances. Quaristice (Versions) and the AE_2022– concert recordings are among the releases available from the duo’s own Bandcamp page.
