My Friend Dario

My Friend Dario is Dario Aiello, a producer based in Catania, Sicily. His earlier projects include Blatta & Inesha and Nutype. He began releasing as My Friend Dario through his relationship with Marco Gallerani at Hell Yeah Recordings, starting with Calamari Fritti. The name comes from Gallerani’s way of addressing him, rather than the Vitalic song of the same title.

Aiello has described the project as a return to drum machines and synthesizers, without requiring every piece to serve a fixed dancefloor role. His influences include Portishead and Massive Attack. Hell Yeah releases include Catania H24, Desertico, Sonica Jonica and Food for Woofers. Cosmic Sailing appeared on NuNorthern Soul. His work includes ambient pieces, guitar arrangements, acid and space-disco rhythms, alongside remixes for Calm, Quiroga and other artists.
