Nextones

Nextones connects experimental music, performance and audiovisual art with the landscape of the Val d’Ossola. Its main venue is Tones Teatro Natura in Oira, a disused quarry transformed through an environmental regeneration project into a theatre with two stages set within the rock. Artists have developed performances specifically for that space, including Richie Hawtin with Ali Demirel, Caterina Barbieri’s Light Years and a collaboration between Alessandro Cortini and Marco Ciceri. Beyond the quarry, the programme includes walks, listening sessions, installations, talks and workshops across the valley. Concerts and excursions at the Uriezzo gorges bring the surrounding terrain directly into the experience of the music. Co-produced since 2019 by Fondazione Tones On The Stones and Threes Productions, Nextones treats its setting as part of the artistic work, from site-specific daytime listening to live and DJ performances at night.
