Pedro Winter founded Ed Banger Records in Paris in 2003, also recording for the label as Busy P. Its early catalogue connected French house to electro, hip-hop and alternative dance music, with Justice, SebastiAn, DJ Mehdi, Mr. Oizo and Uffie among the participating artists. Justice's recordings helped bring the label to a wider audience in the mid-2000s.

Breakbot, Cassius and Myd added other approaches to songs and production, alongside artists including Feadz and Krazy Baldhead. So Me's work on sleeves and videos gave the releases a recurring visual relationship. Albums, singles and label compilations document both the abrasive electronic textures associated with the early years and later work with more prominent pop and disco elements.
