Ilian Tape was founded in Munich in 2007 by Dario and Marco Zenker. Its early releases moved from minimal house toward the heavier, broken rhythms and dub-influenced textures heard in the brothers' later productions. Jichael Mackson's Plex EP, followed by records from Stenny and Andrea, helped define that development.
Albums such as Stenny's Upsurge and Andrea's Ritorno widened the label's scope beyond club singles, while Skee Mask became a recurring presence across albums and the Ilian Skee Series. The catalogue also includes re:ni, Pessimist, Mia Koden, Shed and Fireground. Its releases cover techno, breakbeats, bass music and ambient electronics. The label also runs parties and a numbered podcast series.
