Tresor Records grew alongside the Berlin club that opened in March 1991 in the former Wertheim department store vault near Potsdamer Platz. The recording catalogue became a point of exchange between Berlin and Detroit, with Underground Resistance's X-101 and X-102 projects among its early releases. Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and Blake Baxter formed part of that connection.

Surgeon, Joey Beltram, Cristian Vogel and Pacou contributed other approaches to techno, while Drexciya's recordings added an electro strand. Albums, EPs and archival editions have preserved those relationships as the label continued releasing new work.
