The first film about crate digging: New York producers turning old vinyl into new beats. Directed by Jesper Jensen, 1998. This is the 2003 re-edit. 33 min
Shot in New York in 1997, in hip hop’s golden age, it follows some of its most respected producers into record shops and studios, from the obscure records they find to the tracks they build out of them. It put faces to artists most people knew only from credits.
Self-financed, it was selected for the New York International Independent Film Festival and became a cult film, later released on DVD.
With Diamond D, Showbiz, Buckwild, Da Beatminerz, Godfather Don.
