Hiatus Kaiyote

Hiatus Kaiyote formed in Melbourne in 2011. The quartet consists of Nai Palm on voice and guitar, Paul Bender on bass, Simon Mavin on keyboards and Perrin Moss on drums. Their music combines R&B, jazz and hip-hop with changes of metre and detailed ensemble arrangements. The self-released Tawk Tomahawk appeared in 2012; its song Nakamarra received a Grammy nomination.

Choose Your Weapon followed in 2015, with Breathing Underwater earning another Grammy nomination. The group joined Brainfeeder for Mood Valiant in 2021. Its single Get Sun includes Brazilian arranger Arthur Verocai, and the album was nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album. Love Heart Cheat Code arrived in 2024. The members also maintain other projects: Nai Palm released Needle Paw, Moss records as Clever Austin, and Bender and Mavin are part of the Sweet Enoughs.
