Honour
Honour is a recording artist and producer whose PAN album Àlááfíà uses personal archives, field recordings and references to blues, gospel, hip-hop and Yoruba tradition.
Honour released Àlááfíà through PAN in November 2023. The album was developed across Lagos, London and New York and dedicated to the artist’s late grandmother. PAN’s release notes identify personal archives, conversations, field recordings and literature among its source material. Honour produced and mixed the album and created the artwork, with additional production credited to Bridgegroom.
The title track began after the artist’s final embrace with their grandmother. When Angels Speak of Love refers to works by Sun Ra and bell hooks, while Pistol Poem draws on blues and popular culture. Earlier releases include HBK Vol 1 & 2 and BEG 4 MERCY. The artist’s own Bandcamp page documents those recordings alongside Àlááfíà and subsequent versions.
