Kornél Kovács

Kornél Kovács was born in Stockholm to Hungarian parents. His early listening included Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, King Tubby and drum-and-bass. He began DJing as a teenager and worked around the city’s record shops and club scene. With Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist, he established Studio Barnhus in 2010 as a studio, DJ partnership and record label.

His album The Bells was followed by Stockholm Marathon in 2019. Kovács described the latter as beginning after a move back to his Stockholm flat and involving friends more directly than his previous solo work. Its contributors include Niclas Skagstedt, Matt Karmil and Rebecca & Fiona, with artwork by Malin Gabriella Nordin. Hotel Koko followed in 2022, alongside records and remixes released through Studio Barnhus.
