Pump Up the Volume: A History of House Music

House music from New York disco to the clubs of Europe, in three parts. Directed by Carl Hindmarch for Channel 4, 2001. 2 h 26 min

The first part starts with disco in New York, Chicago and Detroit in the 1970s and early 1980s: Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage, Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy at the Warehouse and the Music Box.

The second moves to the late 1980s: the summer of love at the Haçienda, Amnesia in Ibiza, Detroit techno, acid house and the UK raves. All three parts are in this video.
