Mount Kimbie began as the duo of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos and later expanded to include Andrea Balency-Béarn and Marc Pell, recording for Hotflush and Warp.
Dominic Maker and Kai Campos formed Mount Kimbie in 2008. Hotflush released the Maybes and Sketch on Glass EPs in 2009, followed by Crooks & Lovers in 2010. Their early productions combined electronic rhythm with samples and recorded instruments. They signed to Warp in 2012 and released Cold Spring Fault Less Youth the following year.
Love What Survives appeared in 2017, including collaborations with James Blake, King Krule and Micachu. MK 3.5: Die Cuts | City Planning followed in 2022, presenting separate work by Maker and Campos. Andrea Balency-Béarn and Marc Pell, previously part of the live lineup, became full members ahead of The Sunset Violent. The group has since released live recordings and remixes from that album, while Campos also maintains a club-focused DJ practice.
